KELLY FASTUCA – Smokin’
Kelly Fastuca has given up smoking, but her show isn’t about receiving plaudits or being smug. Instead, it’s a rambunctious trip through vices and the means with which to cope with them, wrapped in an absorbingly confessional style. There’s a lot to like about her embrace of personal revelations mined for humour, and it’s all anchored in a very specific sensibility that starts from the choice of opening music all the way to her choice of fantasy man. She brings a relatability to the stand-up stage that definitely endeared her to the audience. And for any who fear such things, there’s no place for audience participation or shaming of late-comers – don’t come late, that’s impolite, but you won’t be called out for it if you are. Friendly and convivial.
9th to 21st of April, Imperial Hotel, 6.30 pm.
